We are suspending our Bird Walks for the rest of the summer. Now that the weather is warm and you have been introduced to our beautiful preserves and the amazing birds that pass through our green corridor, we encourage you to walk them with your binoculars and view all that is out there at your leisure. We look forward to starting up again in the fall. Watch this webpage for further details.
Start your day with fresh air and bird songs! A different and experienced birder will guide us each week as we stroll through the preserves. Interested bird watchers of all ability levels are invited to join us on these special early morning hikes.

Greene Nature Preserve
Monday, September 11 | 7:30-9:00 a.m.
Explore with Maureen Marsh, Lake Cook Audubon.
Park and meet your leader in the preserve parking lot east of Sheridan Road, approximately .2 miles south of McCormick Drive.
Led by Charlotte Pavelka and Doug Reitz, Lake County Audubon.
Park at the west end of Laurel Avenue, west of Green Bay Road, walk over the bridge and meet your leaders at the preserve entrance kiosk on the right.

Park at the Police Station next to Deerpath Middle School and cross Deerpath at the intersection with Golf Lane. Meet your leaders at the gated trailhead.

Middlefork Farm Nature Preserve

Meet your leaders in the in the Elawa Farm parking lot at 1401 Middlefork Drive.
Led by Lake Cook and Lake County Audubon members. The group will walk around the ponds and woods then cross over to behind the Elawa buildings and up the hill to the Oak savanna. We hope to see bobolinks and/or kildeer's nesting.
