Work in a Preserve
2012 Volunteer Work Days
Join our land management staff at a public work day to help maintain our high quality preserves. Volunteering is a great way to get outside and enjoy the spring weather while spending time with your family and learning about local natural ecosystems. Appropriate for families and all ages.
Work days are held from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon unless otherwise noted. Please wear long pants and sturdy shoes. Lake Forest Open Lands will supply work gloves and any tools needed during the work day.
Saturday, February 4- Middlefork Farm Nature Preserve Trail access and parking for Middlefork Farm is located at the Elawa Farm parking lot, 1401 Middlefork Drive (located half mile off of Waukegan Road on Middlefork Drive).
Friday, February 17- West Skokie Nature Preserve West Skokie is located on Westleigh Road, east of Waukegan Road.
Friday, February 20- West Skokie Nature Preserve West Skokie is located on Westleigh Road, east of Waukegan Road.
Saturday, March 2- West Campus Woods West Campus Woods is located in the northwest corner of the Lake Forest High School West Campus parking lot south of Route 60 off of Waukegan Road.
Saturday, May 5- Mellody Farm Nature Preserve Mellody Farm is located at 350 North Waukegan Road.
Saturday, May 12- Chicago River Day at Skokie River Nature Preserve Skokie River is located at the end of Laurel Avenue west of Green Bay Road.
Saturday, May 19- West Garlic Mustard Pull at McCormick Ravine McCormick Ravine is located on the east side of Sheridan Road just north of Old Elm Road.
